Mobile Startup Incubator Tandem Raises $32M in Funding to Fuel the Next Generation of Disrupters in Retail, Entertainment, Gaming and More

Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) June 14, 2012

Today Tandem Capital, Silicon Valleys first mobile-exclusive accelerator, announced the closing of Tandem Fund II, a $ 32 million fund. Investors in the fund all bring strategic value to the table and include tech industry heavyweights Doug Bergeron (Verifone CEO), Dan Cooperman (former Apple General Counsel), Ram Shriram (Google founding board member), Rick Thompson (Playdom founder), Dan Warmenhoven (NetApp Board of Directors chairman) and other top executives, entrepreneurs and organizations.

Founded by tech veterans and entrepreneurs Doug Renert and Sunil Bhargava, Tandem takes a creative, hands-on approach to nurturing early stage mobile startups by providing $ 200,000 in funding along with free workspace and daily interaction with Tandems seasoned team of experts in business development, product design, marketing, user acquisition and more.

Steering away from the large-scale Y-Combinator approach, Tandem has seen a 90 percent success rate with its portfolio companies to date. Tandem acquisition highlights include ZumoDrive (now MotoCast), a cloud-based media storage and syncing service acquired by Motorola in 2010, and Attassa, a pioneer in mobile collaboration, acquired by YouSendIt in 2011 to form the core of their mobile offering.

Current Tandem success stories include PlayHaven, a real-time monetization platform for mobile games that now supports over 1,500 titles with more than 500 million game sessions each month, and the highly profitable BitRhymes, now the leader in cross-platform casino games with over two million active users and the number one casino game on the iPad.

Tandems accelerator program is highly selective and focuses on only a small group of truly exceptional teams. This way, we can give founders what they need most: time and attention from our team and our entire network. Think of our accelerator like a small liberal arts college where you get to know your professors, as opposed to the large public university where youre taking each course along with 300 other students, said Tandem co-founder Doug Renert.

Tandems next application deadline is July 1, 2012. Entrepreneurs interested in receiving funding as part of Tandems next class can apply here: http://www.tandemcap.com/apply.html
