Gainesville, VA (PRWEB) February 22, 2012
RedStorm Fire & Rescue Apparatus, Inc., a fire apparatus and ambulance dealer based in the Mid-Atlantic, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department for seven Marque Type III ambulances featuring a new SafetyOp interior design. The ambulance design features two attendant seats with individual work stations and patient access, along with a unique interior design which provides for immediate access to supplies without requiring paramedics and EMTs to stand to reach supplies or for patient treatment.
Our intent was to be on the leading edge of safety and operational efficiency to maximize the performance of our ambulance fleet and give our paramedics and EMTs every advantage in transporting and treating patients. In addition to the unique Safety Op interior design, these ambulances will be the first in the nation to comply with the draft NFPA 1917 standards, slated to take effect in January 2013, said Chief Robert Brown, Stafford County Fire and Rescue Departments Fire Chief.
Marque is well-known for its ability to design highly-customized ambulance configurations while maintaining a value-oriented construction approach. This Safety Op module is in Marques sweet spot in terms of manufacturing a highly optimized interior and exterior storage configuration that is perfectly suited to Stafford Countys response and patient care environment. We are extremely pleased to have earned this order, said Jim Featherstone, RedStorm president.
The Type III Commando model ambulances will be built on Ford E450 chassis with gas engines. They feature a 164 module with 72 of headroom, two attendant seats plus a fold-down attendants seat on the front bulkhead, locking drug cabinet, and expansive exterior compartmentation. The units can transport up to three patients, if needed, to maximize Staffords ability to respond to large-scale incidents.
The NFPA 1917 compliance package, available now from Marque, includes seat belt monitoring in the patient compartment, carbon monoxide monitoring, and a tire pressure monitoring system. A four-camera system and SafeDrive MiniDVR system for the cab further enhance safety. The warning and lighting package features the newest Federal Signal VisionSLR light bar and all Whelen LED lights.
The Stafford County contract has add-on opportunities for jurisdictions throughout Virginia and elsewhere. Kirsten Skyba, RedStorm vice president, is the sales representative.
