EVANSVILLE, Ind. (PRWEB) February 05, 2013
Atlas Van Lines, one of the nations leading movers, today announces its partnership with Move For Hunger, a non-profit that fights nationwide hunger by gathering non-perishable food items from household moves and hosting collections to deliver to local communities food banks. To celebrate joining Move For Hunger as an Epic Partner, Atlas Headquarters held a local food drive on Feb. 1, which resulted in 3,050-pounds of food and more than $ 850 donated to Tri-State Food Bank, also located in Evansville, Ind. To date, Atlas and its agents have contributed more than 32,273 pounds of non-perishable food to local food banks across the U.S.
Atlas and more than 70 Atlas agents are amongst the more than 398 moving companies that help create one of the nations largest, year-round service programs with Move For Hunger. As part of the partnership, Atlas and its agents are building awareness on nationwide hunger and encouraging household move customers to donate unused food items to local food banks upon embarking on a household move.
Atlas Headquarters kick-off food drive provided meals to families and individuals in 33 counties across Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.
“The Atlas family is excited to have the opportunity to partner with Move For Hunger and join the fight against the food shortage our country is facing, said Jack Griffin, president and COO of Atlas World Group. “Weve been in the moving industry for more than 60 years, and this is the first non-profit that aligns directly with what we do on a day-to-day basis for our customers. By encouraging customer participation, were able to take extra items off their hands and give them and Atlas a chance to give back to the local community. Because America is always on the move, there will never be a lull in the efforts of Move For Hunger, and thats one reason were most excited to be an Epic Partner of this organization.
